New Paintings from 2013

Here are a few more images of paintings from my show.  The show was titled "Perfectly Imperfect."  The connection between most of these pieces is just that they are almost all images directly from God.  The only real planning on my part was how to execute the images that God gave me to paint, complete with titles.  I honestly feel like I can take very little credit for any of the impact that these pieces carry.  All I did was apply my years of training and manipulating paint.  Which are also gifts from God. Oddly also some of the most fun I've had painting in years. Seems so easy to do what you are created for.  I was excited to see the end process as well.  And most of these images actually came out almost exactly how I saw them in my head,  that never happens.  Anyhow,  have had a difficult past few months but am getting excited to start working again.  Also bought some new paints to start playing with.  Water soluble oil paint.  I'm excited to see how they work.  I'll let you know...

I've Started Painting Again

Well... So I've started painting again.  Working on a new style and some new techniques.  I started getting heartburn doing the paintings I used to do.  So I decided I should probably take a break for a while and re evaluate.  Now over 4 years later.  My new pieces have been fun to do.  I've been playing around trying to master some new techniques by trying to paint in the style of other artists.  So hard for my perfectionist not to take over.  So I allow myself to only perfect parts.  Also have been limiting my use of black to India Ink.  Kind of fun.  I used to love line drawings with India ink... don't know why I stopped.  I've also started decoupaging again.  Always kind of hard when you want your work to be archival and most "found" items are not considered archival.  Also found out that Liquitex is making acrylic spray paint.  SOOO excited about that.  Been using it on all my new pieces.  Although the nozzles get clogged easily, so I need to figure out what to do about that. 

 

Anyhow, I'm going to just try and post some images and talk about my process of being an artist.  I've got several projects in the works.  I am looking at becoming a member of an artists co op of sorts in LA where I will have one show a year in Hollywood.  So I am working on a new body of works to try and produce a show by this fall.  I am also working on publishing a book of my artwork and some of my story.  So far it's going well.  I should be opening an etsy store for prints and things soon.  Have to figure our how I'm going to produce prints this time around. Either need to find a printing company I like or buy a new printer.  Just have to see what works out.
